Restoring Homes. Rebuilding Lives.
A mission by History Loves Company and HLC Apparel Co. to bring purpose back to preservation.
A mission by History Loves Company and HLC Apparel Co. to bring purpose back to preservation.
HLC Apparel Co. was born inside a 1929 Albert Kahn–designed building in downtown Pontiac, Michigan.
What started as History Loves Company — a storytelling platform dedicated to Michigan’s most historic homes — has evolved into a movement that blends preservation, purpose, and personal recovery.
We don’t just make clothing. We craft wearable reminders of what it means to build something that lasts.
Every design honors craftsmanship, community, and the stories written into the walls of old homes — while helping restore new lives through The Forever Home Project.
A portion of every purchase from HLC Apparel Co. supports The Forever Home Project — a mission to restore Michigan’s historic homes and help those in recovery rebuild their lives.
Through hands-on restoration, training, and community partnerships, we’re turning old structures into new beginnings.
“Restoration isn’t just about walls — it’s about people.”
I’m Chris Hubel, a Michigan Realtor, content creator, and the founder of History Loves Company and HLC Apparel Co.
My journey began in real estate — helping families find homes — but it was the stories inside those homes that changed everything.
After years in recovery from drugs and alcohol, I rediscovered my purpose: to rebuild what was broken, both in structures and in lives.
That mission became History Loves Company, a storytelling platform dedicated to the preservation and rebirth of Michigan’s most historic neighborhoods — from Pontiac to Detroit and beyond.
HLC Apparel Co. grew from that same spirit. Each shirt, hat, or hoodie represents the idea that what’s old can be restored, and what’s broken can be rebuilt.
My life, this brand, and every piece we make are proof that restoration isn’t just for houses — it’s for people too.
